About The Program

GHTS is excited to propose a comprehensive range of mentoring services
for BCPS, grades K through 12, that are designed to enhance social and
emotional learning (SEL). Our services, available in person, hybrid, and
virtual formats, are based on the highly successful tutoring services we offer.
We have carefully crafted our mentoring programs using the Collaborative
for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning’s (CASEL) framework,
which is widely recognized for its effectiveness.

CASEL defines social and emotional learning (SEL) as an essential
component of education and human development. It encompasses the
process through which young people and adults acquire and apply the
knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to develop healthy identities,
manage emotions, and achieve personal and collective goals. SEL also
enables individuals to feel and show empathy for others, establish and
maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring
decisions.

By incorporating the CASEL framework into our mentoring services, GHTS
ensures that students receive a holistic and well-rounded education. Our
programs not only focus on academic success but also prioritize the
development of essential social and emotional skills. We firmly believe that
these skills are crucial for students to thrive in all areas of their lives, both
inside and outside the classroom.

To achieve our mission of producing mentally, socially, and academically
healthy students, we offer a range of services that cater to their unique needs.
Our weekly one-on-one mentoring and other developmentally appropriate
programs focus on academic support, communication skills, goal setting,
relational capacity, and community service. This comprehensive and holistic
approach connects BCPS students, enhances their knowledge, and equips
them with essential skills for future goal setting.

Our ultimate goal is to cultivate well-rounded, engaged, and civic-minded
lifelong learners. To achieve this, we have set several objectives for our
students, including but not limited to:
